Jupiter is a coastal town of just over 61,000 residents, set where the Loxahatchee River meets the Atlantic. The town reaches into the ocean farther than any other point on Florida’s coast and connects to the Intracoastal Waterway through the Indian River Lagoon, which is why boating is part of daily life here.
Places that define it
- Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse: completed in 1860 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1973.
- Abacoa: a walkable district in southwest Jupiter with restaurants, coffee shops, an amphitheater and a farmers market, next to the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College and Roger Dean Stadium.
- Jupiter Ridge Natural Area: 271 protected acres of scrub, marsh and flatwoods.
- Beaches: many are dog-friendly and popular with residents and visitors.
Homes and neighborhoods
Jupiter spans oceanfront and Intracoastal homes, golf and country-club communities, newer planned neighborhoods and inland areas with larger lots. Because the setting varies so much, the right question is less “is Jupiter right for me” and more “which part of Jupiter fits how I live.”
What I check on every home here
- Flood zone, elevation and the home’s flood and wind insurance history
- Roof age, impact windows or shutters, and mechanical systems
- Seawall, dock and bridge clearance on waterfront homes
- HOA or condo reserves, fees, rental rules and planned assessments
- Prior permits, renovations and whether the work was done to code
Population and size figures are from the 2020 Census as published at the time of writing. Taxes, insurance, flood zones, HOA and club terms vary by property and change over time, so confirm current details for any home you are considering.
